Great Lizard Cuckoo (Eleuthera, Bahamas)

The Great Lizard Cuckoo, an endemic to the Bahamas and Cuba, can be difficult to spot when it skulks through the tree foliage even though it is the largest cuckoo. While this individual skulks, a dove coos in the background. But when the cuckoo decided to call, it was hard to miss especially when it also displayed its remarkable tail feathers. The two varieties of Cuckoo that are common visitors to Ohio, the Black-billed and the Yellow-billed Cuckoo, are only slightly smaller.
